Like we had planned to last week me and Niina went to the 3 different departments today to film them for our webisodes. We firstly went to the catering department, where Jamie was happy for us to set the camera up and start filming students and herself around the kitchen. We had planned to film her doing a demonstration and then get footage of the students doing the same. But when we arrived the class had already started and they were nearly done cooking. So we started filming some of the catering students finishing off there cooking and we did get some good shots. Then Jamie set her class another task to make another dish, so we filmed the beggining of this and got about 10 minutes of footage which we are going to edit. However after watching the footage back we realised that we because we didn't use the tripod some of our footage is really wobbly and messy because we were holding the camera and walking around the kitchen. So we are going to use the footage which is good and then have another meeting with Jmaie to see if we can maybe go down there again and get some better footage.
The next department that we went to was the science department where the teacher said last week that she will have an experiment for her class to do so that we could film it. But when we got there she did have an experiment planned for her students but it was just a small experiment. We were asked to stand on one side of the room so that we were not in the way. We got some footage of her demonstrating what to do and then some other footage of her students doing it. Our footage is good, but it isn't very exciting and I don't think it will make our target audience interested in the science department and therefore doesn't respond to the brief of promoting the college.
Finally we went to the Motor vehicles department where we got footage of the garage which once again because we didn't use the tripod our footage is very messy and shaky which doesn't look very professional and wouldn't look very good. However we did get some good footage of one of the students taking the gearbox out of a car, and we also got some good footage of all the cars and machines that they use. I think that we need to go and get some more footage from all the departments again, but this time we need to use a tripod and ask them to make sure that they have something interesting and good planned for their classes so that our webisodes will appeal to our target audience.
7/4/11 - Today we are going to be going back to motor vehicles so that we can get some more footage but this time we have arranged it so that the building will be empty, because last time we went down there the students were being very immature and just running away from the camera. So we decided that we are going to use some of the good footage that we have got and then use some of the footage that we get this afternoon of the new Gwenvor building, then we will edit it down to 45 seconds using final cut, adding fades and transitions.

Final Proposal for Martin
Working Title: 45 second Webisodes and A1 Posters
Date of Production: 10/03/11
Detailed Description: I am in a group with Niina and Naomi. For this part of our commission project we are going to create a range of 45 second webisodes which can be viewed via YouTube or the college website. We are creating these webisodes because they are unique and different which we think will appeal to our target audience.
We are going to be creating our webisodes for the catering, science and motor vehicles departments and film some students and teachers either cooking something or doing some sort of science experiment. We will film the whole process and then using final cut we will edit all our footage down to 45 seconds so that it is short and sweet and it will keep our target audience entertained. As well as creating the webisodes for the different departments we will create another two for two of the new buildings, Nanjizal and Penberth. For these webisodes we are going to film around the outsides of the buildings and then the insides as well, which will show our target audience what the new buildings look like. We think that this idea to create webisodes will give our target audience a good understanding of what go ons here at Penwith and what the new departments involve and what the new campus looks like.
As well as creating the webisodes we are also going to create big A1 posters for each of the buildings on the college campus, which will be displayed on the wall as you enter each building. The posters are going to include some work from students who study in that specific building, for example we could get an art student from Nanjizal and ask them to create some cool and unique things which can be put onto the posters. We will also add photographs, which we have taken of the buildings once again from the outside and insides. We think that this is also a good idea because it will promote each of the new buildings and the departments which are in the buildings, it will also make the entrances to the buildings look much better and give it a better effect.
Target Audience: 14-25 year olds

Planning Posters & Webisodes for Martin
Me and Niina went around to the different departments that we are going to be filming to make our webisodes. We went to the catering department first where we spoke to Jamie who said that we are able to go down next Thursday at about 9:00 am for about an hour and a half to film her doing a demonstration to the class then hopefully we can get some footage of the students doing the demonstration which they were shown. We also hope to get some footage of the catering department e.g the classrooms and the kitchens. This will show our target audience who watch our webisodes what the catering department looks like and some of the things that they do.
After we talked with the catering department, we went and had a talk with the science department where we spoke to the biology teacher. She said that it will be good if we went down there next Thursday at around half past 10 to get some footage of her class. She doesn't know exactly what her class are going to be doing next week but she is going to email me to let me know so that we have an idea of what we are going to be filming. As well as filming some experiments and class work, we will also hope to get footage of the whole science departments e.g all the different science labs.
The last department which we had a meeting with was the motor vechiles department which is located in the new building Gwenvor which has just opened. We had a meeting with the teacher Dave, where he didn't seem to keen for the idea because he didn't think that his students would agree to be filmed. So he asked us if we would have a chat with some of his students who was in his lesson. We told them our idea and they said that they were up for it but if we could try and not get them in the footage. We hope to get some footage of the students working on the cars, just so that we can show what happens in motor vechiles here at Penwith. We also hope to get some footage of the whole building because it's new and no one has really seen it properly, so this way our target audience can just watch our webisode and get a good understanding of what the Gwenvor building looks like.
For the A1 posters we borrowed a camera from the photography department so that we could go out and about around the college campus taking pictures of all the buildings from the outside and inside so that we can edit them in photoshop then add them onto our posters, which will show people what the new buildings look like form outside and what they look like inside and what happens in each building.
To improve our footage we need to go and have more meetings with the department teachers again and arrange to go back and get some more footage so that we can make our webisodes more professional and appeal more to our target audience.
We also need to go out to Nanjizal and Penberth so that we can get some footage of the outsides and insides to create the webisodes for them. We should get some footage of the different classrooms in the buildings, hopefully some classes as they are going on and footage of the outsides of the buildings using different shots from close ups to long shots.
